In addition to our focus on the security and defence industry, we also develop solutions for critical infrastructure applications.
As part of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy's Central Innovation Programme for SMEs (ZIM) funding programme, we are developing a mobile robot for the automated inspection of PV modules in solar parks in the ‘RobInspec’ project together with our partners.
The number of solar parks in Germany and Europe has been growing for years, occupying ever-larger areas that require regular inspection and maintenance. Until now, this has been done manually by specialist personnel. An autonomous mobile robot capable of fully automated navigation through a solar park and taking optical measurements significantly reduces the labor, time, and cost required for inspections, increasing the profitability of solar parks.
The ZIPPERMAST, combined with a pan-tilt system and our patented position compensation unit, ensures optimal positioning of the optical measuring head. The focus of our development work in this project is the position compensation unit, which automatically keeps the mast upright at all times, despite uneven terrain. We also handle the overall system integration and subsequent utilization.
We are thus creating a platform for attitude-aware sensors that will facilitate and expand their deployment options and capabilities not only in this project, but in numerous civil and military applications.
The project offers us the opportunity to further develop our technologies and expertise in the areas of robotics, automation technology and the maintenance of critical infrastructure.
